Minerals

Minerals are elements that originate in the Earth and cannot be made by living organisms. Plants obtain minerals from the soil, and most of the minerals in our diets come directly from plants or indirectly from animal sources. Minerals may also be present in the water we drink, but this varies with geographic locale. Minerals from plant sources may also vary from place to place, because soil mineral content varies geographically.

There are 16 essential minerals required by the body, which are divided into macrominerals, or minerals that are needed in fairly large quantities, microminerals, which are needed in smaller quantities and trace elements, which are needed in minute quantities but which are still vital for the body’s well-being.

Minerals come in many different forms. When choosing supplements, avoid sulfates and oxides (such as zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, cupric sulfate, etc.), they are the least bulky mineral compounds, which are very poorly absorbed. The best source for minerals is chelated (organic) minerals. Albion laboratories are the most trusted manufacturer of safe and effective organic minerals. They have been around for over 50 years and their minerals are backed by constant research and over 100 patents. Most minerals in Balanced Trio formulas are from Albion.
